Why I wrote the Overflow Journey.

Why I wrote the Overflow Journey.

When people see a new devotional, one of the first questions they ask is, “What inspired you to write it?”

The honest answer is… life.

Like many of the devotionals I’ve written through THE DLVRD, The Overflow Journey was born from a season God was still walking me through. It wasn’t written because I had all the answers. It was written because I was learning to trust the One who does.

This devotional is rooted in 2 Timothy 3:17, a reminder that God’s Word equips us for every good work. That truth became the foundation for every page.

So, why Overflow?

Because overflow isn’t about having more. It’s about being so rooted in God’s Word that what He pours into your life naturally begins to pour into the lives of others. Before there can be overflow, there must first be preparation. That’s the journey this devotional invites you to take. Each day is a reminder that God prepares us, equips us, and grows us so we can faithfully walk in purpose and become a blessing beyond ourselves.

As I reflected on my own journey, I realized that God had been preparing me long before I ever recognized it. While this book includes pieces of my own testimony, it isn’t about my story. It’s about pointing readers back to God’s story and helping them recognize His hand in their own. Whether you’re in a season of waiting, growth, uncertainty, or a new beginning, my prayer is that these pages remind you that God’s preparation is never wasted.

This devotional also holds a special place in my heart because it was created in dedication to the Women’s Ministry of New Hope Baptist Church of Boston. Their encouragement, fellowship, and commitment to growing in Christ inspired this project, and I pray it continues to strengthen women long after Women’s Day has passed.

My hope has always been simple: that every resource created through THE DLVRD points someone closer to Christ.

Whether it’s through a devotional, a Bible study, a journal, or even a simple message shared online, the mission remains the same: to encourage people to trust God’s process, stand firmly on His Word, and walk confidently in the purpose He has prepared for them.

Thank you for supporting this ministry, praying alongside me, and walking this journey with me.

With love,
